new 2012 Honda Civic during the Detroit Auto Show press preview

Honda will unveil the coupe and sedan prototypes of the all-new 2012 Honda Civic during the Detroit Auto Show press preview on January 10 and 11, 2011.

Considering all the positive feedback generated by the CR-Z, it’s a safe bet that the Civic’s new styling will be heavily inspired by the two-seater. Will the Civic keep the 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre i-VTEC mills? Auto123 will be presenting it, with great pleasure, in our section dedicated to the Detroit Auto Show.

The 2011 Detroit Auto Show, also known by its North American International Auto Show moniker, is arguably one of the world's most important motor shows. There’s no shortage of eye-candy concepts either, such as the GMC Sierra All-Terrain HD and Kia KV7.
Once again, a number of automakers will skip the Detroit auto show, which opens to the press on Monday and to the public on Jan. 15.California in November or Detroit in January?

Other absentees will include Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Suzuki, Mitsubishi and the electric-vehicle manufacturer Fisker. Maurice Daniel, a Mitsubishi spokesman, was asked the same question. “Our message and product line are better suited to those markets.”

By any standard, Detroit is a major show. First held in 1907, it remained a local event until the late ’80s, when its promoters resolved to expand the show’s reach, renaming it the North American International Auto Show. The New York auto show, by comparison, was first sanctioned in 2008.
